Almost complete!

Rachel got home on Friday after driving home 1300! And we finally were able to put in the last of our vegetables and add the woman's touch this garden neede. We brainstormed together to put a miniature raised bed within the raised bed for Rachel's flowers, herbs, and 4 kinds of strawberries (hopefully we will get that in there this week). We wanted to make it look a little bit more like a garden than a farm.

Planting!

Finally got some sunshine after a week of rain so that we could get the garden really started. My good friend Pete and his girlfriend Tamara came over to help out as substitutes until Rachel comes home in a few weeks! We added some compost, fertizlier, and a little extra soil. Did a final till and some "rock harvesting." Then it was finally time to plant. We planted: spinach, double colored Amaranth, some lettuce mixtures, multi-colored silverbeets, 4 types of carrots, beets, radishes, snow snap peas, and pole green beans. I think that's it. Let the growing begin!

Cleaning it all up

A little more, actually a lot more weeding, to make some clean borders and it's starting to look like a pretty fancy piece of dirt (I know it's soil)! Hopefully it will stop raining soon so I can throw in the compost and fertilizer and then finally some seeds! (Note the difference of the new and improved wide trail on the side of the plot)
